What is News?
For our purposes News is produced by an administrator and added to the site in a similar way to a content management system. The main difference is the way that news is displayed. News is normally time-related and thus the order should be reasonably linear. Thus newer items should be organised toward the top, older items toward the bottom.
If a site is very active, it might have many news items, which need to be organised into pages. The number of news items on each page may vary depending on the clients' preference.
In this example:
The Plexus 2k News page has 5 news items per page and shows 10 pages of the latest items (older items are archived but not shown to visitors).
This system uses something called pagination to create the pages. Basically this takes the appropriate records from the database and ignores the others until they are requested. This speeds data transfer and helps with user navigation.
Plexus 2k use an administration section to control news content. This allows us to change the website from anywhere in the world without having to upload files manually, while still keeping the site secure.
